Mr. Hilton was born in Putman Twp., Fulton County in 1853, a son of David and Sarah (BISHOP) Hilton, natives of Ohio. David Hilton had in him the making of a pioneer and his opportunity came when he sold his farm in the Buckeye State in the late 1830s and came overland in wagons to Fulton County, settling on 80 acres in Section 24, Putman Twp. He lived to an advanced age. Cyrus Hilton was reared on a farm, and in 1874 at age twenty-one he married Sarah FOXWEATHER, a native of Fulton County. He continued to engage in general farming and stock-raising until 1889 when he purchased the MAXWELL place, 106 1/2 acres known as Winter Bottom Farm. He has operated this farm with a partner, under the name of BEAN & HILTON, making a specialty of draft horses of Norman pedigree, and high-grade cattle. He ahs been a member of the Town Board and also Board of Supervisors. He is fraternally connected with the Knights of Pythias and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
